چکیده

Cryopreservation induces oxidative stress on sperm due to an increase in the number of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby resulting decreased quality. ROS's destructive potential is normally counteracted by their innate antioxidant system consisting enzymes, which include superoxide dismutase (SOD). This study aimed assess quality semen from Itik Pinas-Khaki (IP-Khaki) drakes that were cryopreserved with either 4.5% DMSO or 7.0% glycerol as cryoprotectant through evaluation total motility (%) and determination SOD activity (U/mL). Here, samples collected 12 sexually mature IP-Khaki drakes, improved egg-type breed Philippine mallard duck, processed using modified reported cryopreservation procedure for ducks. Results showed post-thawing averages 12.04±5.61% 13.99±5.28% comparable. Moreover, similar levels 0.39±0.18 U/mL 0.33±0.21 2.00 x 108 cells also observed. The observed very low intracellular indicates severe damage cryopreservation, resulted a comparably cryoprotectants. Thus, protocol used not optimum based considerable decline after cryopreservation.

Superoxide radical concentration and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity in varicose veins.

The aim of this study is to measure the level of both the superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme and its substrate, superoxide radicals, in the wall of varicose veins. A total of 44 vein specimens were collected from 24 patients who underwent surgery for varicose veins at Asir Central Hospital (ACH), Abha, Saudi Arabia during the period from October 1999 to November 2000. The patients were 4 males a...

Human extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) expression in transgenic chicken

Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) is a metalloprotein and functions as an antioxidant enzyme. In this study, we used lentiviral vectors to generate transgenic chickens that express the human EC-SOD gene. The recombinant lentiviruses were injected into the subgerminal cavity of freshly laid eggs. Subsequently, the embryos were incubated to hatch using phases II and III of the surrogate...

Industrial Production of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD): A Mini Review

The use of chemical advances to mechanical research, improvement, and assembling has turned into a critical field. Since the creation of rough rennet in 1874, a few catalysts have been marketed, and utilized for restorative, supplementary, and different applications. Late headways in biotechnology now enable organizations to create more secure and more affordable chemicals with upgraded intensi...
